Maybe you’ve heard of an EMOM but not a rEMOM? It’s the same principle but focusing on the rehab element of the workout!

rEMOM stands for rehab every minute on the minute

And is a technique Nesin is using across all of our clinics including our NesinFIT and Nesin Pelvic Health clinics.

Typically, a rEMOM is a technique that is used to motivate athletes, but it’s also a way to rethink the way we have traditionally prescribed Home Exercise Programs (HEP).

As a PT, I’ve been guilty of assigning far too many exercises for my patients simply because I know they would benefit from each, but I realize that several exercises and the time commitment to completing them can often be daunting and overwhelming.

However, when we assign a rEMOM it is usually 3-4 exercises for a certain number of rounds for a certain time frame.  The work and rest periods are set depending on the condition of the patient!

FOR EXAMPLE, A 10 MINUTE REMOM MAY CONSIST OF :
  1. 15 seconds of work and 45 seconds rest
  2. 30 seconds work and 30 seconds rest
  3. 50 seconds of work and 10 seconds rest
  4. At first, a minute rest in between may be appropriate

The length of the rEMOM can vary depending on certain goals. For example, a rEMOM can be shorter (8 minutes)  if working on strength and technique.  A mid-range rEMOM (8-16 minutes) is appropriate for conditioning and strengthening and is usually 4 exercises with 3-4 rounds.  A longer rEMOM (16 minutes) is more for aerobic conditioning and stamina and is usually 3-5 movements for 5-6 rounds.

Your therapist will perform an evaluation and determine where there are deficits in strength and/or range of motion. The types of exercises prescribed will then vary depending on what your therapist finds and determines what you can safely do. This type of exercise program is appropriate for people of any age and fitness level.

I just finished my physical therapy with NesinFit. I cannot say enough to express how grateful I am to have had the opportunity to work on improving my physical fitness and mobility with their wonderful staff. My main therapist Jonathan was amazing! So knowledgeable and patient, he not only helped me to progress during my sessions, he gave me things to do at home to keep the improvements going! I would recommend NesinFit to anyone needing Physical Therapy!!

My experience with the NesinFIT team has been great. Jonathan and Amanda are experts in their field. They developed a plan specific to my injuries and goals. I've had experiences in the past with doctors that told me to stop squatting or deadlfiting. This is not the NesinFIT approach. They work to address the issues instead of ignoring them so you can't get back to the activities you love without pain. Couldn't recommend them more.

Highly recommend Nesin and NesinFit! I recently suffered a serious hamstring tear and could barely walk when I first came in. Working with Johnathan was awesome! Not only am I fully recovered, but I’m leaving stronger than when I came in. All of the staff and therapist are super friendly, professional, and easy to work with.
