How Are You & Your Resolutions Doing?

March is almost here and we’ve made it through the start of the year, so what better time for us to check in on you AND your New Year Resolutions! Why you might ask?

Unfortunately in our field, we tend to see a lot of patients at the start of the year due to injury and pain as a result of zealous goals and potentially unrealistic resolutions. And although our team is encouraged by the commitment to be active and fit, we also know that diving head first into a new fitness routine can sometimes result in injury.

“It’s nothing…”

 “It’ll get better…”

If these sound like things you’ve been saying about your pain, it’s time to consider whether you’re experiencing soreness from your engaging new muscles or actual pain. If it’s pain, our team of therapists can help.

How can our team of experts help you? Well first off if you do find yourself injured or continue to have pain before, during or after exercise – we suggest coming in for an evaluation at one of our two locations in Huntsville and Madison. At NesinFIT, we’ll be able to help you recover and find a way for you to reach your goals -safely!

No need to sweat the evaluation. At your first appointment, we’ll learn about your current symptoms and understand how your life is being affected. Not only will we formulate a specific treatment plan to address your complaint and help you reach your goals (resolutions or otherwise), but we’ll help you understand why your body is in pain and/or not functioning as it should. Each individual treatment session will consist of a combination of manual therapy, posture/balance training, strengthening, stretching, and/or modalities to relieve pain and inflammation – amazing stuff, right?

Then we’d also suggest reevaluating your resolutions and goals to make sure they are realistic and sustainable. We know it’s easy to jump into the new year with high aspirations and super lofty goals. This isn’t bad in and of itself, but goals need to be realistic and sustainable to avoid injury, frustration, AND burnout. Instead of doing too much, too fast, too soon, opt to ease into exercise if you have been sedentary and progress slowly as tolerated. Your body needs time to adjust and adapt to new or increased demands.

Maybe you’re not facing injury or pain, but you can’t seem to stay on your wagon – we can help there too or at least offer some advice. When it comes to new years resolutions people often tend to choose an activity that they think will be the most beneficial or the quickest way to get fit or lose weight, right? However, the important thing is to find something you enjoy doing! You will be much more likely to continue it for the long haul.

Hopefully these tips will help encourage you to either seek help for your pain or encourage you to re-evaluate your goals and resolutions if needed. Whichever position you might be in, just remember NesinFIT is here to bridge the gap and help you get where you want to be!

I just finished my physical therapy with NesinFit. I cannot say enough to express how grateful I am to have had the opportunity to work on improving my physical fitness and mobility with their wonderful staff. My main therapist Jonathan was amazing! So knowledgeable and patient, he not only helped me to progress during my sessions, he gave me things to do at home to keep the improvements going! I would recommend NesinFit to anyone needing Physical Therapy!!

My experience with the NesinFIT team has been great. Jonathan and Amanda are experts in their field. They developed a plan specific to my injuries and goals. I've had experiences in the past with doctors that told me to stop squatting or deadlfiting. This is not the NesinFIT approach. They work to address the issues instead of ignoring them so you can't get back to the activities you love without pain. Couldn't recommend them more.

Highly recommend Nesin and NesinFit! I recently suffered a serious hamstring tear and could barely walk when I first came in. Working with Johnathan was awesome! Not only am I fully recovered, but I’m leaving stronger than when I came in. All of the staff and therapist are super friendly, professional, and easy to work with.
